What a great time I had this past weekend at the SkrAp Addicts Retreat at the Tustin Marriot in Orange County, California. What a fantastic day crop, these ladies provided their guests with a table to work on, snacks & drinks, awesome raffle prizes, classes and vendors! What more could you ask for? I had the privilege of offering a watercolor class at this event. Below are the cards that we made.
The Remarkable You stamp set is one of my favorites because of the size of the flowers. I love coloring, I find it so relaxing. The watercolor background was made by using Stampin Write markers and coloring onto an acrylic block then spritzing it 5-6 times with the Stampin Up Spritzer. Once the water has pooled onto the block I lay it onto the Stampin Up watercolor paper and hold it there. The colors all melt together. The colors used here are Marina Mist on the top, Island Indigo in the middle and Garden Green on the bottom. The card above was already posted on an earlier post, but I love it so much we made it again in this class. The background here is made with the NEW Stampin Up watercolor pencils and the Aqua Painter.
The card you see here has the Bokeh technique which takes some time, but has such an awesome look once it’s done. This is one of those cards that you have to tell your recipient not to throw away… and then provide them with a frame so they can keep it forever… tee hee hee. The first step to creating this masterpiece is to make the watercolor background, I did this by using ink refill and water and then daubing it onto my paper with the Aqua painter. Once the whole watercolor paper is fully covered in ink and there are no more white spots, I dry it with the emboss heat tool. After it is completely dry, I use a circle stencil and Craft White ink to create the circles, once I am happy with the way it looks, I again heat it with the emboss heat tool, then embellish. And viola – beautiful card!
If you are looking for a chance to get away and craft all day and night with no kids, no husband, no work, no pets… just you and all your crafting tools and projects… than this is the place for you! The SKrAp Addicts offer retreats 4 times a year. To check out their schedule and register, CLICK HERE. Be Sure to sign up soon as space is limited! Hope to see you there! Happy Stamping.
