A big part of getting organized is getting the right storage and organizational supplies. When I first started crafting I was buying an assortment of things that looked cute, things that fit my small space and things that were on sale. This turned out to be a colossal waste in many ways as all my items remained unorganized but I was swimming in a sea of plastic storage containers and still couldn’t find anything.
Some things to consider when starting to organize your craft space;
- Look at the space as a whole before you start buying
- Invest in organizational pieces that meet your needs
- Keep like items together
- Have items out on display so you can see them and use them
- If you haven’t used it in 1 year, get rid of it
These ink pad holders are from Stamp n Storage, they were pricey, but they fit my space perfect and now I can find my colors quickly. It was worth the investment to have my ink pads in front of me and accessible.
Like most folks, once I started collecting something I felt like I had to have every one that was available. I had this great collection, but never used them because I couldn’t see them and forgot what I had. The old saying, “out of sight, out of mind” is not good for your craft items. My husband purchased this magnetic strip from Home Depot to put on the doors of my workbox. I use my dies all the time and love that they are in reach now. Definitely worth putting the tape up and organizing them.
My favorite storage investment is the Stampin’ Up! stamp cases. These stamp cases are perfect for storing all kinds of tools and embellishments. I use the Stampin’ Up! Wood Stamp cases to store my Paper Pumpkin stamps. I use the clear stamp cases for rhinestones, pearls, Stampin’ Write Marker sets and my Water Color pencils. They also fit in my storage unit for my stamps. I also really like how I can customize the covers and label the exterior so I can grab what I need quickly.
So – todays tip, but what you need to make your space functional. Below are the Stampin’ Up! cases, order them and get organized!
