There is nothing more relaxing than coloring, remember when you were little and you sat for hours choosing the perfect color for your coloring books. All those feelings of being care free rush back when I sit to color in stamped images. The Stampin Up Beautiful You set begs to be colored with the new Watercolor Pencils. The new water color pencils blend so nicely with whatever medium you choose. You can blend with the aqua painters, blender pens, even the wink of stella pen. The fun never ends. The photo below was from Stamp Camp on January 8, 2017.
The card on the left, the Melon Mambo card is very quick to make. I used the Daffodil Delight, Calypso Coral and Melon Mambo watercolor pencils onto Shimmery White Cardstock. Once I applied the color I then went over it with the Aqua Painter, one of my most used tools. Shimmery White cardstock is thick and excellent for watercoloring, it does have a nice sparkly shimmer to it. The paper can warp slightly depending how much blending or how wet the paper is. In order to straighten the cardstock out I use fast fuse and mount it onto Basic Black cardstock. I stamped the image with Mememto Black ink. The last step was to use the Wink of Stella to color in the dress and hat. Simple, fast and stunning, don’t you think?
Blending the watercolor pencils to create new colors is so much fun. I was inspired by the Playful Palette 6×6 Designer Series Paper which has the new in colors. I wanted to color the dress Emerald Envy to match the paper, there is no Emerald Envy so I mixed Old Olive and Bermuda Bay to create Emerald Envy. I used the Peekaboo Peach ink pad to color the skin. Since I was watercoloring the image I used the Black Archival ink. If you use Memento Ink it could smear since Memento Ink is water based. Once the image was done I used Wink of Stella again to color in the dress. I used the Emerald Envy Taffeta Ribbon and Rhinestones to embellish the card. I love how it turned out, don’t you?
